Very little is known about the life of the Greek poet Homer, who is revered as the greatest of the ancient Greek poets. He is credited as the author of the epics The Iliad and The Odyssey. It is traditionally held that Homer probably lived and wrote between the 7th and 8th century B.C. His birthplace is undocumented as well, but it is probable that he was resident of some port of Eastern Greece or Asia Minor. His tales have had an enormous impact on the history of literature.
